Other Details to Note

Nelson's allure for us is rooted in its splendid natural landscapes, exquisite cuisine and wine, and vibrant art scene. Tiro Moana is a great base to explore it all. For wine enthusiasts, the region boasts 26 wineries, with in our minds, Neudorf standing out for its exceptional Pinot Noir and inviting cellar door experience. Culinary delights abound, starting just down the hill by the sea with the Boat Shed (more formal) and the Boat House (relaxed -often with music), both offering over-water dining. They are both a mere four-minute drive away along with recommended Nahm for Thai cuisine. In the city center, Hopgoods is our top pick, followed closely by recently acclaimed Urban Oyster. Considering Nelson, the winery restaurants, Mapua, Richmond, you could discover a new dining experience daily for a couple of months. The local artisanal food scene is rich with cheeses, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and unique offerings like Pic's peanut butter and Proper Crisps. The Saturday Market, a short six-minute drive, is the perfect starting point, especially for their irresistible breakfast crepes. Art lovers should explore the Nelson Art Trail or combine art and gastronomy on the Great Taste Trail. For mountain biking enthusiasts, Nelson IS THE WORLD's MTB capital. The nearest single track is just a 15-minute ride away, with many challenging trails to discover across six separate parks. Craft beer aficionados will find Nelson a paradise. From the Sprig and Fern's local pubs to the Freehouse in a converted church, there's a wealth of local brews to sample. Don't miss the area's original brewery the Mussel Inn over Takaka Hill or the new Eddyline brewery, only made better with its fab pizzas. Nelson offers a plethora of outdoor activities like tramping, kite surfing, paragliding, rock climbing, caving, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking, ensuring an adventure-filled stay at Tiro Moana.

We loved staying at this beautiful home! It was built in the 1950s and has a sweet vintage charm to it. & It had the most incredible view of the bay and Tāhunanui Beach! The sunsets were incredible.

Wir hatten zu viert als Familie ein paar schöne Tage in der Unterkunft. Die Aussicht ist traumhaft. Da die Küche gut eingerichtet ist, haben wir uns komplett selbst verpflegt und die Zeit genossen.

We often bike around the place. You can walk down to Tahunanui Beach via Moana Rd and lower Days Track. The Saturday Market takes about 25 minutes (but a bit longer coming home loaded up with goodies), the beach 20 minutes. With the drive on access, a car is a really easy option. Especially for loading and unloading of all the toys you want to bring to really enjoy Nelson! And the shopping!
